Big Smiles, Full Hearts: LEAF Surprises New Teachers with Classroom Stipends

There’s no better way to start a school year than by celebrating the educators who are just beginning their journey—and that’s exactly what the Lamar Educational Awards Foundation (LEAF) set out to do during this year’s Novice Academy!

As part of this multi-day professional development event for first-year educators, LEAF proudly put $6,200—and counting!—directly into the hands of our brand-new teachers, gifting each one with a crisp $100 bill to help stock their classrooms and support their students. Whether it's supplies, decorations, books, or something that simply sparks joy, our new teachers now have a little extra to make their space their own.

This unforgettable moment was made even more special thanks to our generous LEAF donors, dedicated Board Members, and supportive Lamar CISD Trustees, who personally handed out the stipends with smiles, hugs, and words of encouragement.

It’s all part of our mission to ensure every teacher feels supported, valued, and ready to make a difference on day one. And the best part? Even more surprises are on the way in the coming weeks!
