Art students are Don Carter Elementary were able to full participate in a meaningful creative experience with access to high-quality art materials, thanks to Shannon Jiang's LEAF-funded grant, Creative Exploration Through Art Centers!

Creative Success
Thanks to the LEAF-funded grant, students were able to freely express themselves through creative works of art! They got access to a variety of centers, such as a Bracelet/Beading Center, Play-Doh/Clay Modeling Centers, STEM Bins, and a Drawing/Design Center! Beyond just allowing them to create these works of art, students got to experience the joy of self-expression in a supportive, choice-driven environment and developed critical thinking skills along the way! They were constantly encouraged to be innovative problem-solvers, committing themselves to be lifelong learners! This project will create a legacy of students that will continue to dream, design, and create. Along with important academic skills, these students will build a strong repertoire of art skills that are all sure to help them succeed in the future!
Seeing the kids' artwork is like seeing them on a page, in a bracelet, or in a sculpture. And Ms. Jiang wanted to strengthen each students' individual expression by equipping them with the tools, instruction, and creative freedom! By applying for and winning a LEAF-funded grant, she gave almost 800 elementary-school students an experience that they may not have been able to be a part of without the funds!
A special thank you to our donor community for making grants like this possible! If you would like to invest in public education and support our mission, please email our office at leaf@lcisd.org.
