At Lamar High School, CTE Patient Care Technician (PCT) students in Ms. Lobitz’s class are stepping into the world of healthcare with confidence and excitement. Thanks to The Future of Healthcare grant, these future medical professionals are rolling up their sleeves, putting on their scrubs, and practicing the very skills they’ll use to care for patients one day. This isn’t your typical classroom… it’s a mini hospital in action!

Purpose & Impacts grant was designed with a clear intention:

For PCT students at Lamar High School, The Future of Healthcare grant was more than just extra resources — it was the key to transforming learning into real-world practice. With these grant-funded supplies, students didn’t just read about healthcare skills; they got to experience them firsthand.

The impact has been undeniable. Last school year, only one Lamar High School PCT student achieved certification. This year, thanks in large part to the consistent practice these resources provided, three students earned their PCT certifications.

Future-Ready Students: The Impact of Experiential Learning

The success of The Future of Healthcare grant shows that engaged students are empowered students. By providing hands-on, real-world experiences, Lamar High School PCT students are not only mastering critical healthcare skills but also building confidence and enthusiasm for their future careers. Programs like this prove that learning is most effective when students can actively participate, practice, and see the impact of their work — preparing them to step confidently into the healthcare field and beyond. A special thank you to our donor community for making grants like this possible!
