At Lamar CISD, preparing students for the future means creating experiences that connect classroom learning to real-world opportunity. Recently, Durotech, winner of our Men Who Cook Auction package and their guests gathered for an exclusive CTE Preview Tour Experience, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the district’s new Career and Technical Education Center, set to open in Fall 2026 in Rosenberg.

Hosted by the Bond Office, Lamar CISD Career and Technical Education Department, Durotech, Stantec, and the Lamar Educational Awards Foundation, the event brought together industry and education to showcase what is possible when strong partnerships align around student success.
An Experience Rooted in Real-World Learning
The tour began with a standout moment as guests enjoyed a catered lunch prepared and served by Terry Highschool CTE culinary students. More than just a meal, it was a powerful example of students applying their skills in a professional setting, demonstrating both talent and confidence.

During lunch, Durotech guests heard directly from CTE Director Dr. Kayse Lazar and Stantec Principal Gin Kappler-Peeler, who shared insights into the vision, design, and long-term impact of the new facility.
Following lunch, attendees received CTE-branded hard hats, safety vests, and curated swag bags before exploring the site.

A Firsthand Look at the Future
Guests embarked on a guided tour of the active construction site, walking through what will soon become a 236,211-square-foot hub for career-focused education. The experience offered a unique opportunity to see the scale, vision, and intentional design of the facility as it continues to take shape.

An ATV ride around the property provided a dynamic perspective of the full campus, allowing participants to fully grasp the scope of the center and the wide range of programs it will support.
Preparing Students for What’s Next
During the tour, a comprehensive program overview highlighted how the CTE Center will equip students with the knowledge and hands-on experience needed to thrive in high-demand careers. From cosmetology and engineering to culinary arts and technical trades, each program is designed with industry alignment in mind.
These opportunities ensure that students graduate not only with knowledge, but with practical skills, confidence, and a clear pathway forward.
The Power of Partnership
A key theme throughout the day was the importance of collaboration. Partnerships with organizations like Durotech and Stantec play a vital role in shaping programs that reflect current workforce needs while expanding opportunities for students.

Through shared investment and engagement, these partnerships help bring learning to life in meaningful and lasting ways.
Building More Than a Facility
As the CTE Center moves toward its Fall 2026 opening, the Preview Tour served as a reminder that this work is about more than a building. It is about creating access, expanding opportunity, and preparing students for successful futures.
Together, Lamar CISD and its partners are building more than a facility. They are building the future of the workforce, one student at a time.
