The Lamar Educational Awards Foundation (LEAF) proudly helped launch the 2025–2026 school year at the Lamar CISD Convocation, where over 6,000 staff members came together to celebrate our district’s achievements, welcome new campuses, and set the stage for an incredible year ahead.

This year’s Convocation was extra special as LEAF awarded an all-time high of $40,000 in Campus LEAF Grants to four outstanding schools.
What Are Campus LEAF Grants?
Campus LEAF Grants are campus-wide awards of up to $10,000 given to Lamar CISD schools to fund large-scale, innovative projects that directly benefit students and enhance learning experiences. Whether it’s creating sensory rooms, building outdoor learning spaces, hosting family STEAM nights, or providing unique student support programs, these grants turn visionary ideas into reality—helping students thrive.

The event was filled with inspiring moments, including powerful messages from Superintendent of Schools Dr. Roosevelt Nivens and Secondary Teacher of the Year and Region 4 Finalist Brooke Howard, who encouraged staff to lead with accountability, joy, integrity, compassion, big-thinking, and excellence.
LEAF board members Beverly Richard, Ralph Villareal, Marcia Holmes, Linda Drummond, Amy Galvan, Raleigh Sullivan, and Lorin Pargoud joined the celebration, cheering on educators and honoring the dedication that makes Lamar CISD exceptional.

We had an absolute blast and are fired up for what promises to be the best year yet—always keeping students at the center of everything we do. Here’s to a year of inspiration, innovation, and impact!
