Meet Our 2025 Board Member of the Year

The heart of the Lamar Educational Awards Foundation lives in the people who quietly show up, give selflessly, and lead with purpose. This year, LEAF is proud to recognize Beverly Richard as our Board Member of the Year.

Beverly has devoted countless hours to advancing LEAF’s mission not only through financial support, but through an extraordinary investment of time, energy, and heart. From reading grants, scoring scholarships, and helping distribute classroom stipends, to representing LEAF at community events, Beverly’s commitment can be felt across every part of our work.

At LEAF events, you’ll find Beverly placing centerpieces on tables, jumping in wherever help is needed, and staying late to clean up after Surf’s Up. Always the first to arrive and the last to leave, no task is ever too small when it serves students and educators.

Beyond the work itself, Beverly serves as a trusted sounding board and advisor to fellow board members and staff. Known for sharing the best advice and always delivering a well-timed joke—Beverly has a way of making even the toughest moments feel lighter and better. Serving as the right hand to the Executive Director, Beverly’s partnership, leadership, and steady support strengthen not only the board, but the entire organization.
